FinQ Tech at QCAS Workshop: A Presentation by Even Liu and Ke Wan
At the recent QCAS Workshop on October 31, FinQ Tech's core members, Even Liu and Ke Wan, delivered an insightful presentation focused on advancing quantum optimization methods. Their talk showcased a comparison of constraint encoding techniques within the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA), emphasizing applications for complex problems such as supply chain and financial modeling. By analyzing methods including penalty dephasing and the quantum Zeno effect, they highlighted potential quantum computing solutions for tackling large-scale, constraint-laden problems.
Their research centered on optimizing constraint satisfaction within QAOA, particularly for applications that require intensive computational resources. The paper evaluated three encoding techniques: quadratization, penalty dephasing, and the quantum Zeno effect. Through comparative analysis, they demonstrated how each approach balances resource efficiency with computational accuracy, targeting problems like the knapsack optimization challenge. The findings offer a roadmap for tailoring quantum algorithms based on constraints, solution accuracy, and problem size.
