FinQ is a global quantum community and nonprofit. For the services covered by this notice, FinQ determines why and how personal information is used and is the controller or responsible organization where applicable. You can reach the privacy contact at info@finq.tech.

This notice applies to information handled by FinQ through this website and related FinQ operations. It does not govern an employer, event platform, donation provider, or other external site you visit from FinQ; that organization's own notice applies once you use its service.

• Account and profile: name, email, organization or school, role, city or region, country, career stage, biography, avatar, interests, professional links, verification evidence, and authentication and session information.
• Participation and requests: event registration and attendance, resource applications, contribution offers, job submissions, collaboration inquiries, research questions, feedback, member messages, matching preferences, safety choices, and optional notes.
• Communications: newsletter topics and consent, messages you send us, delivery status, and records needed to respond.
• Donation records: limited information a donation provider may make available for acknowledgment, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal compliance. FinQ does not collect full payment-card or bank credentials on this website.
• Technical and usage information: an essential member-session cookie, security and request metadata processed by hosting providers, and the deliberately coarse first-party analytics described below.

Please do not submit sensitive personal information that FinQ has not specifically requested for a stated purpose.

Most information comes directly from you. We may also receive information from your activity in FinQ services, another member when a controlled collaboration or matching workflow requires it, service providers, event organizers, employers, and public or professional sources used to review event, job, affiliation, or identity claims. We do not treat a public profile as permission to publish private FinQ records.

We use personal information only for the relevant purposes below. If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the corresponding legal basis depends on the activity:

Requested services

To create and secure an account, administer an event, process an application or offer, deliver member features, and respond to you. Where a contract applies, the basis is performance of a contract or steps you ask us to take before entering one; otherwise, it is FinQ's legitimate interest in providing and administering the service you requested.

Your consent

For newsletters, optional nearby matching, use of profile location for matching, and each proposed contact share. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Legitimate interests

To answer non-marketing inquiries, protect the service, prevent misuse, maintain accurate operational records, evaluate programs, and improve public pages using minimal analytics, after considering your rights and reasonable expectations.

Legal obligations

To keep records, respond to lawful requests, protect rights and safety, and meet accounting, tax, or other requirements that apply to FinQ.

Required form fields are needed to provide or evaluate the service identified on that form. If you do not provide them, FinQ may be unable to complete that request. Optional fields are marked or presented as optional.

When you sign in, FinQ uses an essential, HTTP-only member-session cookie that normally expires within 30 days and may be revoked earlier. One-time email access links expire after 15 minutes. We do not use advertising cookies.

On allow-listed public pages, FinQ may record only a page-view event and a broad page category such as Events, Stories, Research, Jobs, or Donate. FinQ application analytics does not intentionally record account identifiers, email addresses, cookies, query strings, referrers, user-agent strings, or precise locations. It honors Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals by not recording that page view.

Hosting and network providers may separately process standard request metadata, such as IP address, device or browser information, and timestamps, to deliver, secure, and diagnose the service.

Access inside FinQ is limited to people who need the information for the relevant operation. Current service providers may include Vercel for hosting and security, Notion for operational records, and Postmark for transactional email. They process information to perform the functions FinQ authorizes, subject to applicable contracts and law; an external service may also act independently for information you provide directly to it.

We may also disclose the minimum necessary information to an event organizer, collaboration party, employer, professional adviser, authority, or other recipient when you request the interaction, give consent, receive notice at collection, or when disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect people, FinQ, or the public. We do not publish attendee, subscriber, applicant, inquiry, private-message, or verification records by default.

FinQ does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Information you deliberately submit for a public listing or a controlled member feature may be shown to the audience identified at that point. Contact details used for matching are shared only after the required separate choices; joining, attending, donating, or making an inquiry does not automatically subscribe you to a newsletter.

The public Job Board sends applications to the employer's verified channel and does not collect résumés. The homepage Opportunity map displays aggregate region counts from reviewed job-location labels visible to the visitor; it does not use applicant or member-profile locations. Remote, global, and ambiguous listings are grouped as Other rather than placed at a guessed coordinate.

Donation providers process payment credentials under their own privacy notices. External links may receive ordinary request information when you follow them.

FinQ is global, and FinQ or its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where applicable law requires a transfer safeguard, the transfer must rely on an adequacy decision, contractual safeguards, or another lawful mechanism. Contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your information.

We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, including providing an active account or requested service; completing an event, application, inquiry, contribution, or match; maintaining consent, safety, audit, and suppression records; resolving disputes; and meeting legal, tax, accounting, and security obligations. Newsletter information is kept until you unsubscribe, subject to a minimal suppression record needed to respect that choice. When information is no longer needed, it is deleted, de-identified, or archived with restricted access, subject to lawful exceptions and the time needed for deletion to propagate through provider backups and logs.

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have rights to know or access your information; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to processing; receive a portable copy; withdraw consent; opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising; and appeal or complain about a decision. FinQ does not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

Your right to object: where processing relies on legitimate interests, you may object based on your situation. You may object to direct marketing at any time.

Send a request to info@finq.tech. Describe the service and email address involved. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity and will use it only for the request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any lawful limitation. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority; UK residents may contact the Information Commissioner's Office.

FinQ does not use personal information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Matching, verification, publication, and trust decisions retain the review and consent controls described in the relevant service.

FinQ services are not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 must not submit personal information through the website. If you are below the age at which you can consent to data processing where you live, use submission-based services only with a parent or guardian's involvement. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted information may contact us to request review and deletion.

FinQ uses administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please contact us if you believe your account or information is at risk.

We may update this notice when services, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised notice here with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required or when a change materially affects how previously collected information is used.
