QC WORKSHOP 21: Post Quantum Cryptography & bitcoin

round silver and gold coins

BACKGROUND

White house released NSM10 on May 4th of 2022, requiring whole USA to upgrade all IT digital systems, fundamental & critical infrastructure systems, military departments, intelligence systems, to quantum computer resistant cryptography from now on to 2035 as much as possible. This will also drive all cryptocurrencies, bitcoin including, to implement quantum resistant algorithms. NIST PQC has launched the 3rd round algorithms which will be standardized, and an extra round specially for digital signature algorithms with shorter signature will be need to submit by June 1st of 2023. How to be quantum resistant to bitcoin? ethereum? and Defi, SocialFi, Web3, or Metaverse? What’s the future of cryptos?

OUR SPEAKER

Mr. Jin Liu, the Chairman of Algorithm, Blockchain, Computing, & Mathematics Int’l Foundation (ABCMINT) a non-profit foundation, is mainly specialized in supporting research and application of post quantum cryptography algorithms globally. it supports some qualified teams worldwide to replace current elliptical curve digital signature algorithms with quantum resistant ones.

IN THIS SESSION

  1. The 10th National Security Memorandum from White House
  2. Quantum secure algorithms of NISTPQC projects
  3. Three kinds of PQC digital signatures: Lattice-based, Hash-based digsign, Multivariate.
  4. What bitcoin will take action to be quantum secure? Switch PoW to PoS?
